Senior Champion: Thrulane James Rose (1st Aged Cow), Ferme Pierre Boulet, Montmagny, QC
Reserve Senior Champion: Quality-Ridge Stormi Hazel (1st 5-Year-Old), The Hazel Syndicate, Preston, CT
Honorable Mention Senior Champion: Mischke Durham Krystal (2nd Aged Cow), Arethusa Farm, Litchfield, CT
Senior Champion reasons:
The pursuit of perfection. That is why we're here. That is why we're all here. And in the middle of the ring, we have four cows that are as close to perfection as I can find today. I believe this is the greatest Holstein show that these eyes have ever seen. So without any further ado, I'm going to name my Senior Champion. I was asked recently who my favorite cow of all time was, and guess what, there she is! She has a close second and we must name an Honorable Mention. We have a great, great cow for Reserve.
It's all about mammary systems and score cards around the world dictate that in their 40% ranges. I defy anyone to find me a better udder in the world. Our champion has a little more spring in her pastern and is a little more correct in her pin setting. She's a little more correct in her thurl, and has slightly more ideal teat size and shape. But that's nitpicking. I'm sure most would be elated to see this white cow walk around as champion. She's clean through the bone. Her udder is tied on a little tighter. Once again, congratulations!
