Judge's comments:
Well ladies & gentlemen it has been a tremendous show this afternoon. We are both very honored to be out here. We know it takes a lot of hard work to get cattle here from all parts of North America and to get them out in the right condition. We pulled four out and when you look at these four, they excelled in their classes. They're the really special kind.
We pulled out the winter calf. Boy, when she came in the ring, she really grabs you with that beautiful frame. She's long, extremely tall and her side profile really grabs you! Then the fall calf. I was very impressed with her when she came back into the ring. She's got so much style and is angular all the way throughout. She also walks extremely nice on her feet and legs. Then we pulled the winter yearling - and talk about balance! She won handily in her class because of that balance, style and depth of body both fore and rear rib. Finally, we pulled the senior yearling. She's got such overall length it's very impressive. She walks well, she's clean and open. All four will go on to the next level and hopefully calve in very well.
When you consider all these things, I'm going with my winter yearling today for Junior Champion because she's the most balanced of all. I'm going to follow her with my beautiful stylish fall calf as reserve and this big fall yearling as honorable mention. This winter yearling just spells balanced all the way through. She's just a little more correct and when you see her from the side, she's got more development and more width through the rump. She also tracks a freckle nicer on her rear legs. This fall calf has a little more style and angularity to place over the fall yearling.
