"Well when this lineup of cows came in the ring - if you like dairy cows with great udder, of any breed - and if this doesn't get your blood pumping, I don't know what does. Congratulations to all red enthusiasts worldwide for bringing the breed to where it is today. I have more cows pulled in the middle of the ring than I normally do, but they are deserving.
I pulled in my milking yearling - a young cow who I was told was being debated on whether to show in the red show or the black & white show. She would have competed well in the black & white show and I haven't even seen them, but thanks for bringing her out for me to judge.
I pulled out the Jr. 2-year-old - a young cow that I really admire. She's got a great combination of dairyness and strength. She's so wide and yet so clean.
I pulled out the Sr. 2-year-old - a young cow that is just going to get better with age. She grows on you the more you watch her and if Pierre can get her broke to lead by the time we're done, she'll set up quite nicely!
I pulled out the Jr. 3 - a cow that won the Futurity class and her Jr. 3 class with ease. She's got great strength, overall frame and mammary system.
And I pulled out our pair of Sr. 3-year-olds - a pair that won a tremendous class. This winning cow had best udder, veination and quality throughout. The second Sr. 3 has a beautiful rear udder, she's so feminine and has a great future ahead of her.
It gets kind of close and we have to make a decision. And I really, really, really like this cow right her. Our Sr. 3-year-old is not as long or as tall as our Jr. 3-year-old (who will be reserve), but she's got a little more femininity and is a little cleaner in her bone, has a little more breed character in her head, taking nothing away from the big strong cow we're using for reserve."
